ACUPUNCTURE In dartington, TOTNEs

WELCOME! My name is Mim Lilley. Are you looking for an acupuncturist in or near Totnes? I have over ten years experience in effectively treating a wide variety of conditions, from digestive disorders to different kinds of pain from allergies to anxiety and insomnia. I am passionate about helping people on their journey to better health. Acupuncture can be used to treat a wide range of conditions and is endorsed by the NHS and the World Health Organisation for a variety of problems ranging from osteoarthristis of the knee, migraine headaches to nausea.

Unlike some other treatments, Acupuncture can relieve pain with no side-effects. As well as treating specific conditions, Acupuncture can also be used to simply enhance your general wellbeing (addressing things like sleep and mood). Every acupuncture session is a challenge and investigation into the client’s health right at that point, which is what makes this work so interesting and fulfilling.

As well as my private practice I am passionate about family health. I run a dedicated low cost Childrens Clinic and Pregnancy Clinic on a Tuesday afternoon.

I work in a beautiful clinic on the Dartington estate in Devon, just on the edge of Totnes and live with my partner and four children. I have successfully completed a BSc (Hons) in Traditional Chinese Medicine: Acupuncture from the University of Westminster, London and I am a full member of the British Acupuncture Council.  Find out more about me here.

  • insomnia / anxiety

“I came to Mim for help as I had severe insomnia and anxiety. I have been coming for 10 weeks now and my insomnia has completely gone and my anxiety has reduced. For me this is better then any therapy I’ve had and I’m truly grateful for her!”

    - Erin

  • NECK PAIN

I had a very uncomfortable neck and this was making it very difficult to look over my shoulder on one side and I would get pins and needles during the night, waking me up and this made me very tired during the week.
After three weeks of acupuncture treatment I noticed a big change and I no longer had pins and needles and was able to turn my neck without pain.
I was able to sleep all night and I began to feel much more relaxed. I hadn’t realised how much this had impacted my general energy levels and I felt a massive improvement in my wellbeing.
The treatment with Mim is very relaxing and the environment is calm and pleasant. Mim has a very gentle approach and explains everything so you learn a lot about acupuncture at the same time!
I would really recommend trying this treatment if you have neck pain and it has worked well for me so I will continue to have regular treatments to prevent those initial symptoms returning!

    - Nikki

  • sciatica

“Mim is an excellent acupuncturist and really made me feel at ease with the treatment. I had been suffering with sciatica for 15 months, I only needed 3 treatments with Mim and it has completely gone.”

    — Gene Fennel

  • sinusitis

“Mim saw me the very same day to help me with very painful sinusitis. I had heard that acupuncture could help. I only had to wait 4 hrs from speaking to her to my appointment. She was calm, kind and caring. I could feel the acupuncture working from the moment she started treatment and it cured the sinusitis completely. She also added some points for general wellbeing and help with exhaustion and low feeling from looking after our baby. I couldn't believe the relief and how much better I felt within a few hours. I am converted and now am considering Mim's acupuncture for other ailments. Thank you so much Mim, I will be back and I cannot recommend her enough.”

    — Jade. B

  • migraines

I came to Mim for help with migraines which had been getting increasingly worse and nothing seemed to help. Even after the first session, I noticed a real difference and during the course of treatment that followed they steadily decreased in both pain and frequency.

Even though I had not received acupuncture treatment prior to this, Mim’s calm and caring approach put me at ease. Mim has also been able to help with some after symptoms from having Covid - a lingering cough and low energy. I have noticed that when my immune system struggles, acupuncture has a real positive effect and I feel recalibrated.

    — Rachel.V

  • Anxiety/depression

I have been treated by many acupuncturists in the last 20 years and Mim is one of the best. I have been seeing her for crippling anxiety and depression as well quitting smoking. Over the course of 6 sessions I have emerged from my dark den of depression and I am smoke free. I am very grateful.

    — Lyla

  • frozen shoulder

“I Highly recommend Mim for any aches & pains you may have. Having my frozen shoulder completely resolved with the acupuncture, I now visit regularly for a massage alongside Acupuncture as a form of treat to myself. The job role I have is very physically demanding on my body and having treatments that are tailored to my needs is perfect.

Mim is super friendly, down to earth & excellent at what she is trained to do. Plus it’s also super relaxing and calming at her treatment practice. Thank you Mim, Looking forward to my next treatment!”

    — Cheryl Potts

  • hayfever

I came to Mim with hay-fever, a condition I’ve long suffered with and managed to overcome with acupuncture until a move to Devon where symptoms reappeared. The pollen here are something else!

Mim is lovely: she is calm and a good listener. Her practice is beautiful and also an oasis of calm. Her acupuncture is spot on and I’m so pleased I’ve found her. During grass pollen season I see her regularly to stay on top of symptoms and I can happily say that I’ve not needed to use any over the counter hay-fever medication.

I warmly recommend her should you suffer from hay-fever or any other type of allergy / acute symptom, all of which Mim is able to treat.

    — Rosa Macher

  • insomnia/period pain

The opportunity to see Mim came about during a time of need. I was processing grief for the loss of a friend, navigating a stormy peri-menopause (chronic cramps, insomnia, low mood and energy) plus struggling to keep my head above the water with my job in a school. I hadn’t experienced a course of acupuncture before and I was fed up with trying to fix things with various meds & supplements. I decided to commit to a series of 5 weekly acupuncture sessions with Mim. After my first appointment with Mim, my insomnia started to improve and my energy levels increased. Since beginning acupuncture I haven’t had any painful periods (which I previously had to miss work for), and I generally feel lighter in my step. I now see Mim once a month and I look forward to our conversations and her excellent treatment! Thanks Mim

    — Tilly

  • ear and sinus pain

Mim is knowledgeable and intuitive and I really felt in safe hands whilst having acupuncture treatments with her. Her calmness and confidence really put me at ease, having never received acupuncture before. I came for acupuncture as I had a reccuring blocked ear and sinus that I wasn't able to shift. Even after the first session the difference was amazing and after two sessions my ear and sinuses were back to normal. I would highly recommend her.

    — Rebecca

  • anxiety

“I am so thankful that I found Mim’s practice. Acupuncture has played a massive part in my healing journey over the last 4 months. In 2020 I went through - only what I can describe as a nervous mental breakdown. After seeing multiple therapists, and hypnotherapists nothing seemed to resonate, I have always been intrigued by acupuncture and its ability to help people with anxiety and depression so I thought I would book in after seeing Mim’s friendly face after scouring the internet!

Mim has a natural ability to make you feel safe and supported, I feel like I can truly relax in her care. Mim is a true gift. My anxiety has improved massively. Acupuncture brings me back to centre, it keeps me accountable for the self-care my mind and body need. (A little quiet time to recalibrate - or what I can describe as a reset of my nervous system.) Taking a step away from my busy life and investing in myself, is the greatest thing I’ve ever done.”

    — Kate Feest

  • Panic attacks/anxiety

We have been attending sessions with Mim for six weeks, and we are absolutely blown away by the improvements we've seen in our daughter's wellbeing. Before starting, she was experiencing high stress, anxiety, frequent panic attacks, and episodes of intense emotional distress. Remarkably, after just a couple of sessions, these symptoms significantly improved. Now, she seems so much happier, calmer, and is genuinely enjoying life again.

Mim’s gentle, calm, and relaxed approach instantly put Ava at ease. It’s clear she is incredibly knowledgeable, and we are so grateful for the positive impact she’s had on our daughter’s life.
